Tayiciya and Kiril are two of the most kind-hearted and happy people I’ve ever met. I was thrilled to be a part of their beautiful wedding day at Villa Catalana Cellars in Oregon City, Oregon. With its lush gardens and old-world architecture, this small winery located thirty minutes south of Portland is easily one of my favorite wedding venues in the area.
For Tayiciya, photography was a very significant aspect of the wedding. As an aspiring photographer herself, confidence and trust in her photographer were really important. She wanted breathtaking photos that showcased their love, their laughter, and their true personality.
Thankfully, because I had previously photographed her brother’s wedding, Tayiciya was not only able to see my work, but she was able to get a taste for how I work.
She then followed me online and after they got engaged. Tayiciya and Kiril pretty much told me then and there that I would be their wedding photographer. And I’m so grateful they did!
Like many couples getting married in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, they faced new challenges. As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough, location options and flexibility were suddenly limited. Although they had originally planned to invite as many family members as possible, they weren’t safely able to have as many people as they initially hoped.
Despite the pandemic or any other challenges that may have come our way, I wanted them to feel completely taken care of and at ease. I remained flexible with rescheduling and made myself available to help them in any way I could.
Plenty of research went into back up locations in case we had to make any last-minute venue changes to our choice of Villa Catalana Cellars. While these two have enough positivity to make the world go round, I maintained a sense of calm and positivity so that they felt relaxed and comfortable to remain as present as possible. And simply enjoy the experience!
Fortunately, we never had to put any of those backup locations to use. And other than a little bit of rainfall during their portraits, everything fell right into place. COVID-19 was no match for these two and their fun-loving and easy-going attitudes. Their wedding turned out to be a close-knit, romantic, and incredibly fun time!
One of the things I absolutely loved was their emphasis on getting more than just a couple of photos with family. It can be so easy to just focus on the couple. {not that there’s anything wrong with that- it is their day!} I love that Tayiciya and Kiril wanted photos with their loved ones. They now have these photos to hold on to and cherish forever.
To top it all off, their wedding was beautiful! Russian Orthodox weddings often involve several outfits. I always love the colors and attention to detail in each one. From the gorgeous backgrounds of Villa Catalana to Tayiciya’s strikingly beautiful Krohsitha, every last detail made this wedding simply breathtaking.
It’s clear that these two make such a great team. They are so playful, loving, and energetic together. Their day (and their photos) were full of big smiles, big laughs and lots and lots of love.
Tayiciya and Kiril, I was so happy to be your wedding photographer and watch you both grow as a couple in the last year alone! I’m excited to see where life takes you two. (and to see your own venture in photography, Tayiciya!)
