Now that you’re engaged, there are a million questions running through your head. When will we get married? Are we having a traditional wedding or elopement? What do I want written on the invitations?
It’s tough to figure out where to start and it can be rather stressful at times. That’s why it’s important that as you go along the wonderful process of planning your wedding, you make sure that you are picking out the right wedding vendors for you. There are thousands of wedding vendors to choose from with as many individual personalities to match, so you want to make sure you pick someone that you click well with.
1. Focus on What You’re Passionate about
When choosing who you want to be there to help make your wedding go off without a hitch, make sure to sit down with your significant other and figure out what is most important first. Do you love dancing the night away? Find a DJ that can create a great mix for you to dance to. Are you really into great food? Find out what your favorite cuisine is and find a caterer that specializes in it. Would you rather arrive in your fathers classic car or drive up in a limousine? Whatever you two love most, make sure it’s prioritized.
2. First Impressions Matter
First impressions are extremely important when meeting with potential vendors. Pay attention to how a vendor responds (E.g E-mail vs. abbreviated text message) and how they treat your initial contact. Did they arrive late to their own meeting? Are the constantly rescheduling with you? Is their phone out when they are talking to you? These are all red flags and queues about their character and how they view their relationship with you. Find vendors that really take the time to listen and want to help you reduce some of the stress of wedding planning.
3. Set a Theme/Style for Your Wedding
Weddings are extremely personal and have endless ways they can be customized. Make it easier on yourself by setting a theme or style that you want to stick to and then find vendors that match, or have similarities, to that style profile. Odds are you will get along with them beautifully and they will really understand what you want done for your wedding day.
Every wedding will be different and only you know how you want it to be. Research before you make a final decision on who you want as your vendors because there is no redo for your wedding. This is the big event that will be remembered by you and your significant other as the beginning of your new life together. Have fun with it and enjoy it. You’ll be looking back on your wedding for years to come, so plan it how you want it.
